Jody's Story

Life Roy School: Endless days of drinking (excuse the expression) "pee warm" water out of the white ceramic water fountian, while hearing the tune 1, 2, 3 that's enough for me coming from my first grade teacher mouth. She was right though, I really should have stopped after just 2 because I think that whatever it was in that water, was responsable for making me talk to everyone in class so much that I eventially had my desk moved around that room (several times, in fact). These days I think the "experts in the educational field" call it A.D.D. I also remember this old teacher from across the hall (I cannot remember her name), but she use to have some of her students wear a baby bonnett when they misbehaived. Mr Z's gym class could not be beat. If it weren't for fire codes, I'm sure he would have smoked his stoggies right there inside the gym. Another well known teacher was Mrs Schaber. Her bright pink lipstick and drill sargent/crossing guard command had everyone in that school shaking in their boots. My fondest memory overall would have to be in Mr Rugalus's class ("s'cussa me, no scussa U"). he owned a never ending drawer full of nature bulletins. These page long articles on things in nature. I think the only one in class that had me beat in re-writing those stupid things was Rocco C. Mannheim: Hmmm... Some of this was really fun....the other half was, and still is, quite the blurr. My close friends know just what I am talking about and there is no point naming them bacuse I'm sure that we all know who they were! I don't know, what can you say about the school that has your first double sided gym uniform where after a week of wearing the gold side out you just turn it red side out and it's clean for another week. The upside to that was that it stunk so bad, that not only would it keep out the roaches, it worked on janitors and teachers too....Expand for more
Ah, laundry that could kill AND a truly safe place to keep your lunch bug-free for the rest of the week. I mean some people would have to walk their uniforms home dangeling from the end of a stick. If they didn't drown it in the washer before their mom got home, it would start telling her stories about you. Okay now, I kid about that, but I kid you not when I ask if you remember the jukebox we had in the lunch room. It probablly had about 50 songs in it but everyone in our lunch period knew only two songs that came out of it, Van Halen's "Jump" and Joan Jett's "I love rock-n-roll. By the end of the year I almost didn't love rock-n-roll, and couldn't bear the thought of seeing anyone jump around anymore. West Leyden: Ode to my fellow band mates, techies and thespians...I miss you all. Band people: a blast, including the band trips. Who knew that not only was it possible to get out of classes for band, but perhaps even the entire day, if you played your tuba-cards right. If the stoners know this, our school would have had a bigger band =). Actors and the behind the scene techs...how can you complain about getting English credit for having that much fun? Schacke you were the best. Thespians, you know who you two were and to this day I haven't said a word about the both of you. (Joke) There are all too many to thank for the wonderful memories that I've had throughout my school years. If I named you all individually, it would make us publically accountable for many things(crimes), some, borderline arrestable in some states. Triton College: Funny how you think that things are evolving in a carreer choice in something involving the fine arts, when you find you self enrolling in courses becoming a science major. No complaints though, it is how I got to where I am today. I've been working for the last 15 years at Northwestern Memorial Hospital....
