Joe's Story
Life
I live in York County Virginia with my girlfriend Lori. Our house is about 25 miles from Williamsburg and 40 miles from VA Beach so there are plenty of things to do in the local area. I've been here since 1987. We don't have kids and we both travel with our jobs quite a bit. Lori is from Keyser and also graduated from high school in 83.
Lori and I are moving to Italy in early 2009 with my job. My contract there is for 1-3 years and we're very eager to get over there. The Italian lessons are coming slower than we'd like but we hope that will change once we're immersed. I'm especially looking forward to doing some traveling while I'm there.
When we're here in VA we like going to the beach, playing volleyball and especially all the outdoor festivities here. There are some very large festivals with thousands of people but there are also small outside events with a local band a few nights a week during the summer. band and it's BYOB so you can bring a cooler and chairs and chill out on the banks of the York River with friends.
I've been catching a couple WVU games a year and still love the tailgate atmosphere. I usually go with my brother Drew and some friends from here.
My job is interesting and always brings something new. Our company makes ship propulsion equipment (engines, propellers, etc...) and is one of the largest companies worldwide in that industry. Our corporate headquarters is in Helsinki and we have sister companies all over the world so work has taken me to Finland, Italy, Holland, UK, India and France. I also travel within the US to visit customers with my most frequent stops being San Diego, New Orleans, and Washington DC.
I haven't done a good job of keeping in touch with many people from high school. I'd love to hear from some of my old Bruce schoolmates so if you have time drop me a line. I had a great time at the 2008 reunion. It was nice to see so many of our classmates doing well.
