Joe's Story
Following high school, I attended & graduated from Memphis State with a BS Degree in Psychology. I was immediately drafted and spent a 2-year career in the US Army . . . . basic training, Military Intelligence School (that's an oxymoron) and the remaining 18-months at the Pentagon. Upon separation from the military, I returned to Caruthersville to teach Junior High Special Education, then moved to the high school as the Counselor (remember Mr. Mock). ployed by the State of Missouri. We raised 2 sons, Mike & Matt, who are still in Cape, married and both work in the medical field. I retired in 2000 and quickly realized that I had to get a p/t job as I could not handle 50-60 hours of "honey-do's" a week. I have driven the Same-Day-Surgery van for St. Francis Med'l Center for the last 9 years---sometimes going to Caruthersville, Hayti or Kennett to pick up patients. Shannon & I just celebrated 47 years together . . . . some good years like 1963 & 1964 and 1969 was a good year, 1971 . . . . . . . ! Now it's time for Happy Hour---that's a nap around our house.
