Joe's Story
Life
So far, my wife Michele and I have been pretty lucky. We were married right after graduation from college and like everyone else, life has been eventful (Michele graduated from CHS in 72').
We've been involed in competitive sailboat racing since 1979, and have managed to win numerous racing titles along the way. In the 80s catamarans were our weapon of choice. Michele and I raced as a team throughout New England, New York and Canada and managed to place in the top three each season enabling us to qualify for national race competitions throughout the US.
Our interest in sailing launched another course in the early 90s when we bought a cruising sailboat. I became a US C...Expand for more
oast Guard licensed Captain in anticipation of chartering our boat. In 2003-2004, Michele and I sailed away aboard our boat "Simple Life" to the Bahamas. Michele is a writer and took advantage of that adventurous year to write a book about our experiences.
Her book was published and released in January of 2007. It's doing quite well in several book stores and on the internet. She's currently promoting it through public appearances at boat shows and books signings.
We are upgrading many of Simple Life's systems in anticipation of our next adventure which is scheduled for departure in June of 2009. Hopefully, we'll sail from RI down island to Trinidad and from there, who knows?
