Joe's Story
Life
Hello Friends,
I hope everyone is doing great these days, as you know life for me couldn't be anymore exciting than it is! I was married in Oct of 2004 to my beautiful wife, Amanda, and some of you attended the wedding, Thankyou. I am currently the Intel Officer for the World Famous Black Aces (VFA-41) stationed in sunny California, and we just recently came back from cruise in the hottest place on earth (Arabian Gulf) which; I must say, is actually hotter and more humid than Millbrook Alabama, TRUST ME!! So far life as an officer in the Navy has been a blessing, however, staying away from family and friends for very long periods of time an be stressful, but the rewards of serving my country are far worth it. I'd like to know how everyone is doing these days, so feel free to drop me a line anytime. My email address is ( my firstname.lastname at navy.mil ) i had to type it that way so it would show up. I will continue to remember everyone in my prayers and look forward to hearing from all of you. God Bless
- Joe ( J.C.) (DUNDEE)

Recently went on 6 month cruise to the Arabian Gulf in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Our Squadron along with the other squadrons in Airwing Eleven (CVW 11) flew day and night sorties in supprt of our Marines and Soldiers on the ground in Iraq. I can say this much.. Our Presence was felt!!!! My job on the carr...Expand for more
ier is to brief the aircrew before each mission. I will try to explain; If you have ever seen TopGun, which does have many flaws in it, so try not believe everything, I am the person who stands in front of all the pilots and explains the mission and threats ie. (What they will do, what they support, whom they support, and any potential threats, etc. ) It really is a GREAT JOB! I get alot of face to face with senior commanders and with my peers, all the junior officers. Having that job puts me in a position where i am always busy while we are out to sea, and am well known throughout the carrier. As for the squadron, you can look up our history if you like, you'll see that we are the World Famous Black Aces! Life in a fighter squadron is much like life in a fraternity, except in this fraternity, we get to kill terrorists!!! Lots of FUN! While on cruise, I was also fortunate enough to work hand in hand with the airwing Targeteer, he builds all the neat stuff for the aircrew to look at and possibly blow up and or other things. Hollywood tends to over exaggerate things and put a twist on them, but my experience in the Navy, while we are at war in the gulf, is seriously intense, yet extrememly fun! As for me, I am currently an Ensign(0-1) however, I will soon put on the silver bars in March, and become a Lieutenant Junior Grade (LTjg 0-2) and finally get out of the lonely gold bar rank! Life in the Military can be difficult, but I love what I do, especially for my country and future, and am so thankful God has blessed me with the opportunity to do so!
