Joe's Story
Life
Hi everyone. My name is Joe Carr, and I live in Aston, PA, which is
southeast of Philadelphia. I'm a police officer in a town called Upper
Uwchlan (pronounced: Yoo-klin). That's about 30 miles west of Philadelphia.
We're a small department of 10 officers, and about 7500 people. It's a
fairly quiet place to work, although we have lots of traffic to contend
with. We're one of the fastest growing municipalities in the area. At work,
I work patrol, but also, on a part time basis, serve on a computer crime
task force spearheaded by the PA State Police. It's a very exciting area to
work, since so much more crime these days involve computers. From child

harassment, eBay fraud...there's a lot of it out there.
I'm also a motorcycle officer, and really love that. Not many people are
lucky enough to get paid to ride around on a motorcycle.
I'm married and have 3 kids, Jake is 6 and Olivia is 3, and Abby is 15 months, so they keep me pretty busy. My son has been diagnosed with autism, and that takes up a lot of time, dealing with various appointments, meetings, therapy sessions, etc., but of course itÂs worth it! In my free time (HA!), I enjoy riding my own motorcycle, and also am a big TV and movie fan. Although with 3 little kids, most of my movies are watched on DVD these days. Not too many trips to the theater anymore.
