Joe's Story
Greetings from Monterey!
It's been great seeing many friends from the past on here, and it brings back many good memories! It was good preparation for the KHS Reunion #45 the end of July '11... It was fantastic to catch up with many classmates after so many years! I recently posted pics in the Photo Album under Keyser High School, and many go back to elementary school... I also posted them on Facebook.
I moved to Monterey, CA in 2008, after living 12 yrs in Germany for a job with the US Army. I worked over 30 years as a Civil Service pharmacist mostly for the army and retired in April 2010.
After KHS I attended Potomac State College 66-67, then on to WVU and graduated from Pharmacy School in 1971. I did my internship at People's Pharmacy in Keyser & worked there until I joined the Commission Corp of the Public Health Service (1971-74). I was stationed at the Indian Health Ser...Expand for more
vice Hospital on the Hopi Indian Reservation in Arizona and the PHS Hospital in Staten Island, NY.
I studied theology at the Baptist Bible Seminary of Pa (1974-77). Completed the final year at a branch of the seminary in Portland, Oregon.
Worked at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco from 1978 until 1996 when most army bases were closed in California.
I transferred to a US army base in Augsburg, Germany in 1996. When the base closed in 1998, I transferred to Illesheim (2 hours north) and remained there until 2008. Living overseas was a good experience, but it was time to get settled back in the US. I transferred to the Presidio of Monterey (Defense Language Institute) for a job at the army pharmacy in April 08.
I really enjoy retirement and like having free time to catch up on many things. I look forward to crossing paths with many more friends on here!
