Joe's Story
Left the Air Force a couple of years ago, recently finished a PhD in International Relations at the University of Kent at Canterbury, England. Working as an adjunct Senior Political Scientist with The RAND Corporation.
Retired as Colonel from the U.S. Air Force in June 2006.
Last assignment: Chief, Combating WMD Division, Joint Staff, Directorate for Strategic Plans & Policy. Chief, Strategic Initiatives Group. Prior to assuming these duties, Colonel Hogler served as a member of the Strategic Inititatives Group and as a Strategic Planner for the War on Terrorism.
PREVIOUS ASSIGNMENTS:
Colonel Hogler served as an instructor and missile combat crew commander in the Titan II and Minuteman III ICBM weapons systems early in his career. While assigned to McConnell AFB, he competed twice in the SAC Missile Combat Competition. At Minot AFB, he served as a missile maintenance officer and organized the base'ÃÂs first arms control office in support of the START Treaty. o include the standup of the 381st Training Group. Additionally, he was the Command lead for compliance with the Chemical Weapons Convention and Open Skies Treaty. In 1995, he was assigned to Headquarters U.S. Strategic Command as a policy and doctrine action officer, developing arms control policy for the START, START II, and START III treaties. At Vandenberg AFB, California, he served as Operations Officer, 2nd Space Launch Squadron, responsible for the safe and reliable operation of the unit's assigned Delta II, Atlas IIAS, Titan II, and Titan IV spacelift systems. In July 2000, he became Commander, 30th Range Squadron. The 30th Range Squadron provides operational control for range testing and operates a Western Range Operations Control Center for space launch and aeronautical operations.
