School
I went to a small boarding school named St. Andrew's in Barrington, RI. It is there that my life changed forever! I knew in 10th grade that I wanted to become a teacher, I just didn't know what I wanted to teach. Major influences at the school were: Stan Shaw, Sue and Doug Johnson, Pete Blanchet, Stacey DeCastro, Mat Dick, Pam (Durant)Farmer, Al Dobson and Ed Kehoe, Wendy Van Gyzen, Mike Raffa, Bill Hutchinson, Janet Dubuc, Rosemary Grant, Steve and Jane Waters, Scott Free, and last, but certainly not least, Jim Davis. College
I was very fortunate to have great room-mates at Vermont College of Norwich University. My first roomie ever was IsaÃas AgustÃn De la Peña Balbuena from Gijón, España. We were roomies for two years and had a color coded calendar system where the RED days were dÃas de Español and the GREEN days were days when we spoke English in the room! This system helped us both a whole lot! My next roomies were Greg Golden and Sheila Benedict. They were awesome roomies! I loved living with them! The most important influence on me and where I am in my life now was Manuel Nuñez de Cela y Piñol, Ph.D. He was my mentor. He was the one who made me realize what it was I wanted to teach: ¡Español!
