Joe's Story
Life
Let's get the dry, obligatory school/work blah-blah-blah out of the way first: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from UT-Austin, moved to Houston, 2 years with Boeing Aerospace Operations (Space Shuttle), 4 1/2 years with Lockheed (Space Station subcontract), last 13 years with Boeing on Space Station doing Safety & Mission Assurance and Flight Operations. I'm not crazy about Houston but I love my job so I'll be here for a while.
Okay, now the good stuff. Since graduating from Mac, I've traveled a fair amount. Mostly in the U.S. but also a trip to Germany and a few ventures into Mexico (Matamoros, Tijuana, Cozumel). I'd rather be outside than in, so free time can find me bicycling (10 Houston-to-Austin MS150s and 2 San Antonio-to-Corpus Christi MS150s so far), camping (esp. on the Guadalupe), whitewater rafting, waterskiing, snowskiing (Lake Tahoe, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Pennsylvania), s...Expand for more
kydiving (3 times), scuba diving (Cozumel, Catalina Island), bashing around in my Jeep (Jamborees in Texas, Louisiana, Kentucky, Colorado, Idaho, South Dakota, and Arkansas), at UT football games, or at a baseball game (preferably minor league). Had a boat and sold it (bad decision). Had a motorcycle and sold it (bad decision). I'm still a band geek, playing sax in the Houston Concert Band and clarinet in the Bay Area Symphonic Band and my church orchestra. I still haven't gotten married, although I did let a couple of extremely wonderful women slip away. My loss. I do, however, have 4 nieces and a nephew that I adore but don't see often enough. That's it for now but my life is an ever-evolving thing. Still trying to make my way to the Caribbean, Europe, and Australia but all in good time...
Future plans call for replacing the boat and motorcycle that I foolishly got rid of and getting a pilot's license.
