Joe's Story
Life
Since graduation I have served in Viet-Nam as a boat captain, received my degree in chemistry and business. Married with 2 children. I am tech/sls mgr for a global privately held chem. co. Enjoy my Harley, playing baseball in the senior league (we won the 2007 Roy Hobbs over 60 World Series in Florida in November 2007) and traveling with my wife of 45 years. We went to the World Series again in 2008 and we lost 7-6 in the semis to the #1 seed. Same story in 2009 and 2010. Lost early in 2011. Won the over 60 league Championship in Akron 2012.. We plan to be back next year for another try. A great meal and a nice cabernet helps, too. Love my cats Ava and new guy Julio.. Have not missed a reunion and enjoy seeing everyone. WHAT A BLAST!!! -sold the Harley.
2009 UPDATE
December 14th I had a total right knee replacement. Recovery/rehab is going great. My doctor and wife are fighting with me about continuing my baseball playing. Too much risk they say. We will see what the 2010 season brings.
2010 UPDATE
Back to playing ball and planning on Florida 2010 World Series. I was just "retired" by my company but have some resumes out--still want to work!
2013 UPDATE
Now retired. We are moving to Florence, KY to be closer to our daughter and maybe grand kids? Doing some consulting to supplement SS. Found a Senior Baseball League to play in (Cinci Tigers) but miss my Mudhen buddies. Plan to go with them in November fo...Expand for more
r the 2013 Hobbs World Series. Liking Florence but miss Stow, OH and greater Cleveland/Akron for some reason. Looks like another Harley is coming into the picture. Looking forward to 50th reunion in 2014! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?? Bought a Harley!!!
2016 Update
now have 2 granddaughters. Had the other knee replaced in June. Back playing ball in
November. Bought a Crossfire and another Harley
2018
Sold the Crossfire and bought a Buick Cascada—love it. Still have the latest Harley I bought! Granddaughters are now 4 1/2 and 2 1/2. Love them both!! Doing some consulting. Playing ball still and riding with my CVMA combat Vets motorcycle group raising money to help Vets and their families. My older brother and sister passed away in the last 2 years. Still have the young ones -Jeanne (67) and Sherry (71). Looking forward to reunion 55 in October. 😎
Military
I was on the USS Tawakoni ATF 114 based out of Pearl Harbor after boot camp from 66-68 and was a boat Captain on an LCPL in Qui Nhon RVN until May of 1970 when I was discharged. I was with IUWG-1 Unit 3 Underwater Warfare Group.
2026 update
May be my last year of baseball will be 80 this year so may hang them up. Mind says no but body is saying yes! Girls are now 12 and 10. Amazing how fast they are growing. Wife had 2 knee replacements and 2 cataract surgeries. Headed for cataract surgery myself. Trying to make the next luncheon, the Troc picnic and next reunion God willing 😁
