Joel's Story
Greetings, and Happy 2018! It's been great hearing from folks, as we begin the next swing around the sun. Bob Barker - again, wonderful seeing you this last summer during your inaugural trip to the Pacific Northwest. Rick Sexty - we WILL figure out a way to connect in person again, hopefully this year!
The latest from us: Judy's choral group, "Song of Seattle," is starting rehearsals for their trip to Spokane this spring for the Sweet Adeline regional competition. This will be the group's third annual appearance; they've won the "Audience Favorite" award the last two years. I continue to write for :Astronomy" magazine, and my latest piece is in the January 2018 issue. I'm making final tweaks to still another article for them, pub date not yet set.
Basic Biographical Stuff: My wife Judy and I live in Bellevue, Washington . After OLQA I attended St. John's Seminary College for two years and graduated from California Lutheran University in 1970. I have an MLS in Library/Information Science from the University of Orego...Expand for more

I've worked as a librarian, a newspaper reporter, a freelance writer of books and magazine articles on science, technology and medicine, and as a technical writer for Wall Data, NetManage, Inc., Microsoft, and WideOrbit. Judy's a psychotherapist with a thriving practice, specializing in marriage and family work, chronic pain issues, and addiction recovery. We're members of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church here in Bellevue.
I'm "retired" these days - but writers never really retire. I currently write articles for "Astronomy" magazine. I also write an astronomy-related blog, "Not Just Minor Planets" on Blogspot.
Judy's daughter Kirsten lives in the area, and we get a kick hanging out with her. Grandson Ryan and his wife Deanna live in Santa Barbara, CA, and granddaughter Kate is living near Santa Maria, CA. Judy and I like to travel some and visit family and friends. We go to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, OR every October, and get down to Napa, CA at least yearly to visit my sister and my dad.
