Joelle's Story
Went to Miss Halls school for 1 year after Wykeham Rise closed then 2 years at Colby Sawyer College. After not getting into the nursing program at Colby Sawyer went to St Frances School of nursing and got my nursing diploma. Worked briefly at Bridgeport Hospital until met my future husband on a blind date then moved in with him after 2 months and started and am still working at Lawrence and Memorial hospital in New London Ct. I work on a cardiac/pediatric floor and love it. Got married in May 1990. to go to Seton Hall next year. Most recent news is as of 2/23 my husband had to start hemodialysis caused my high blood pressure and most likely exposure to drug products where he works now as a animal technician but previously as a lab technician performing test on the drugs and components that make the drugs. He needs a kidney transplant but has not had any luck getting one yet. So this week my husband and I started to learn about and how to do home hemodialysis. Unfortunately the trainig takes about 4 weeks 5 days a week and 4-6 hrs a day. So we are lucky with our jobs I am on a FMLA and he is on short term disability.
