John A.'s Story
Hey Guys - a brief snapshot of the last 45 years,
Since graduating high school in 1967, I moved to New York City where I was eventually got drafted for a 2-year hitch in the U.S Army. Luckily, I did NOT serve in Vietnam.
A few years later, after my return, I obtained a Journalism Degree from Baruch College which is part of the City University of New York in 1983 with the help of the GI Bill. Campus life was totally urban and hectic, taking the subway to school every morning and hopping on a mid-town bus to work a full-time job at night. I finished in 4-1/2 years, including the summers [Uncle Sam paid year round]. To me, it was a commitment and a chance to go to college, which I could have never afforded on my own.

obesonian. Since the mid-1980s, I've been working - on and off - in Journalism, mostly at a mid-sized daily newspaper in northern New Jersey where I've purchased a home.
Believe it or not, I always wanted to be a train engineer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a crazy idea. As it turns out, they were RIGHT.
Even with the demise of the newspaper industry, I consider myself lucky to still be working. Since I work mostly in the field and from home, I've been forced to learn and appreciate the Internet skills necessary in today's job market. I currently also run two small Internet-driven businesses - marketing for a large manufacturer and trading stock options on-line - as back-up careers.
My ultimate goal is to continue my writing career, concentrating on writing screen plays.
My other interests include sports, music & world travel.
