John's Story
Doing well, hope you all are too. Just thought of Ross School days, and here I am. I have a lovely wife (23 years) and two great kids. Went the law route like you all said I would (some sort of undefeated trial lawyer they tell me... beleive me it's not all that great). Love to hear from any of the ol' group and hope you feel the same way.

A story: "A simpler life"
I was a dumb kid who thought he had all the Answers, I got a bit older and I found out I didn't have all the Answers at all, now I'm a bit wiser because I freely admit I don't even know all the Qustions.
We had it SO good, but to me it was simply home. I thought kick ball and little league were the world championships (boy life way simple then). I never cracked a book, but the old RS teachers prepared me for life, and I was a cut-up and jokester, but when it was time to pay the price, the teachers at Ross School were tougher than any Judge or Jury this Lawyer ever had (thanks are in order).
Ross was beyond cool, I could walk the street at 4:am (even a bit tipsy from, oh lets say a M&C Tasley Luau party) and I felt totally safe. I still remember Mary Terry going to Eddy's every day after the Laginitas Club and then over to Sam the Butcher. Mr. Parsens who I think had no kids, but treated us all like family. Miss Clancy walking down Shady Lane after classes with a stoic look that once you got to know her was a mere facade. And Dr. B smoking his pipe and making sure we had an intellectual life. Auntie Gumbo ruling the Library like the Admiral's daughter she was, and Ma Mann (Admiral's daughter too I think) who always looked out fo...Expand for more
r our social life.
I can almost tatse the heaping basket of French Fries for 50 cents at Jean's Kitchen before the Boulevard de Paris/Swiss Cellar... made it a chique affair. And the firecrackers that gave us away and we had to ditch the cops. I remember the Summer warmth from too much sun on my face at the Commons, that only heated up more when Kristy and Shelly or Kim came by in short cut offs (way out of my league), so it was a quick ride to Pheonix for a cool dunk (don't tell anybody). Camp outs on Baldy with a view of the Cemenary and San Anselmo lights. The day I met Jerry and Bob before I knew Windship had some Dead secrets. Blazing my bike down steep hills without fear of cars because you could hear the rare one. A long list of memorable friends and some challenges, but all good in the distance of time. Peace and Tranquility at 6:am jogs, Snow so rare we celebrated it with awe.
These are some of things from a simplier life, but all these things that come to mind are mere flickers, the true Bright Stars were all of you that I regret I have not seen in years. No worries, I moved on (So. Cal, to ranches in Petaluma & Oregon, to Seattle). My life has been great mostly because of my wife and kids, and I imagine you are all well too. Then we were young (and maybe a bit stupid too, in that I include myself, I never really knew how precious it was, the good life that we all shared together).
ROSS was pure and simple, and now know that nothing else can ever compare.
It was me who left Ross, but all of you shall never leave me.
See you someday I hope, until then I trust you will be well.
