John's Story
Life
See work for more on my life and family. After the Air Force stint -Gettysburg South Dakota radar site and McLellan AFB in Sacramento-I returned to the San Francisco Bay area to continue school and to work and have remained there ever since. Was married to Fran in 1968 and had a son 1n 69, a daughter in 70, and another son in 81. As of April 2016 we have 6 !/2 grandchildren.
All my brothers and my sister also live nearby, and my Dad and Mom retired to nearby Modesto before passing away. My wife Fran has a twin sister who lives in Patterson, just an hour away. So our extended family is quite bay area oriented.
My wife is Irish-Italian and a strong Catholic. After a few years of going to her services and my services I figured out that there were really not many differences in the essentials, and I joined the Catholic Church in the early 70's. It was one of the best decisions of my life (after of course getting up the courage to ask Fran to marry me). We have been and are still active in our Parish of the Church and in a retreat program called Cursillo. In 2006 we moved to Brentwood to be closer to our daughter and her two young girls.

ed all his other Sacraments. We now have a wonderful new daughter, Rebekah, whom we are happy to welcome into our family! Life is wonderful! All kids married!!
Workplace
In college at UC Berkeley I switched from science major to accounting --- based on those interest tests that we had been given in WUHS. It proved a good fit for me. After graduation and a stint in the Air Force went back to UC Berkeley for a MBA in Accounting, Feb of 1966. Worked for a CPA firm which had some hospital clients, and became fascinated by hospitals. Have stayed in that field ever since -- working for the Medicare Intermediary (Blue Cross) auditing hospitals, and later becoming a health care provider consultant---mainly hospitals---, preparing the Medicare and Medi-Cal reports that I used to audit. I consulted with a health care reimbursement consulting firm to many of the hospitals in Northern California. Retired July 2007. Since then have gradually gotten more and more active with our new Brentwood parish, and with a local conservation group called "Friends of Marsh Creek Watershed." We landscaped our yard in Brentwood using mostly California Native Plants. It has been fun and is still a learning experience. (you can take the kid out of the park service but not the park service out of the kid!)
