John's Story

Life John Zempel, was my name back then if you have a hard time placing the face to a picture. I joined the Marines on my 17th birthday. When I was 18 I was in Vietnam. Wrote to Darlene Schulz and her sisters almost daily. She was the girl down the street, 10 doors away and my true friend then and now. Asked her to marry me in 1968 when I returned. ns. I soon became a civilian and had one son. I later moved to Texas and have been here until today. I act, sing, play guitar, and produce commercial Haunted Houses. I also do a bit of art on the side. I finally got back in touch with Darlene after 40 years and we married. We are making up for lost time. We are both trying to understand the retiring thing. What does one do once retired? hmmmmm.
