John's Story
I was born in Iowa and grew up in Elverta, Ca. I was raised by my aunt and uncle, except for a time that I was in a foster care in Citrus Heights, Ca. I joined the U.S. Army in June 1966 and served until April 1969, with 1-1/2 years in Vietnam. After being discharged from the Army, I started my own business and I have been building it up since then. I am looking to connect with family and school mates to have some reconnection with ny past.
I have a son 40 years old son, a daughter 30 years old and a step daughter 27 years old. I have a grandson 20 years old and a granddaughter 13 years old.
I am currently single and I am at the crossroads in my life where I have to be very sure of any long term relationships. I have had to constantly assess my contributions in past relationships, both personal and professional, because of my ever changing outlook on life and what I want from it.
I have always believed in "Earning What You Get", rather than "Getting Paid For Doing Work". One of my favorite quot...Expand for more
es is; "Don't Walk Before Me ...I May Not Follow". "Don't Walk Behind Me..... I may Not Lead". "Just Walk Beside Me And Be My Friend".
A Very Dear Friend wrote the following poem and presented in December 2005. I was so moved by it, I designed a Vietnam Veteran's Monument and included this poem on it. It is very fitting for ALL Who Served In The Military Before, ALL Who Are Serving In The Military Now and ALL Who Will Be Who Serving In The Military In The Future.
A Soldier's Thoughts
It Was Easier To Leave The Liberty I Love,
Than To Return To The Liberty I Lost.
As Long As One Person Acknowledges
My Life Sacrifice And Gains By It,
Then Shall The Sting Of Death Soften Its Grip
And Immortality And Honor
Be Given Its Rightful Name........
HERO....Then Shall I Rest!
