John's Story
From Monmouth Regional High School, I went to Rutgers University and studied Mechanical Engineering and Economics. I had a great time at Rutgers, made some great friends and did some great skiing... After graduation, I joined the US Army and went overseas to Korea for a year as a Platoon leader. I was reassigned to the Washington, DC area and then went back for a Master in Engineering from George Washington University. I left the Army and went to work in the private sector a project manager for a large commercial construction firm, and then later for a real estate developer. The eighties were a great time, I was able to travel for fun and have many fond experiences and memories. The earlier nineties brought major changes; include an inner spiritual journey & great personal growth. In 1994 I got married, my wife Sandy and I purchased our dream house, (it was my dream to renovate a fixer-uppe...Expand for more
r) and we had two children. My career also really took off and I became a business development executive and engineering director for a specialty trade contactor. I got accepted to the MBA program at Duke University in 2001. Then the events that occurred on 9-11 affected me in a personal way and refocus my life in a new direction. I travel extensively internationally now, to Europe, Iraq, South America and Africa, a highlight was a trip to Nepal. The Himalayan Mountains and the Tibetan monastery let you can feel the peaceful energy and tranquility of the people and place. Of course right now most of my personal time is dedicated to my children and we are into the sports team shuffle. It has been really fun teaching them to ski which has brought a whole new dimension to my favorite sport. Over the years, I¿ve lost track of many good past friends and hope to get back in touch with you.
