John's Story
Life
My Spouse
I met Mary backstage at the San Francisco Opera. We were both in the 1992 production of Rossini's "Guillaume Tell". We played Swiss peasants, and it was a long opera, so we had lots of time to flirt. We'd been together ever since, and we just tied the knot in May of 2001--blissfully lowering the curtain on thirty nine years of bachelorhood!

I was one of the boring few attending a party school like Chico State who didn't party (well, not THAT much anyway). I quickly learned that while everybody was cramming into the Graduate and Madison Bear, that was the best time to hit the computer lab.

ies. There is where I learned the scientific method of analysis, which is something I use daily--even if only to choose what clothes to wear...
Workplace
After graduating from Chico State in 1985, I worked at Link Flight Simulation as a software engineer. I was in the visual database group, and worked on visual displays for military jet/helicopter trainers. After Link pulled out of the Silicon Valley, I went to ESL.
Then in 1994 I did a career change and became a freelance illustrator/animator. I've done a lot of graphics work for games, edutainment, print and web. Most recently I have been working in film and video. I have created some award-winning short films, and now work for a small studio in San Rafael creating programming for cable television.
