John's Story

After high school, I attended McNeese State University, met Vanessa, got married, transferred to LSU and two years later earned my degree in Civil Engineering. I stayed in Baton Rouge after graduation, working for two different structural engineering consulting firms. We moved to Tampa, FL in 1984, then to the Orlando, FL area in 1988. I finished my career, working for a structural engineering consulting firm, Advanced Structural Design, Inc., in Winter Park, FL. In April 2023, we moved to Lake Charles, LA, where we now live.
We have four sons: Brian (b. 1980) who is married to Sarah and has a daughter, Jane (b. 2006), and they had been living in the Orlando area; however, Brian reenlisted in the military and he is currently at Fort Sill in Lawton, OK, and is a Major. He will finish his mil...Expand for more
itary career in September, 2026 and will enter the ministry. Andrew (b. 1983) lives in Chicago and working on acting gigs and writing. Andrew received his Masters degree at the University of Florida. Kevin (b. 1985) who graduated from the University of Florida and lives in Richmond with his wife, Taylor, and their daughter, Margot. Kevin teaches Civics and Taylor is an Interior Design Architect. Colin (b. 1989) received his BA degree from the University of Central Florida and his Masters from VCU in Richmond. He lives in Richmond and is an adjunct professor.
I've lived in a lot of places and made a lot of good friends. Sadly, I've lost contact with more than I would have liked to, but that's life.
The family is doing well. We are very close-knit and offer each other strong support. Everyone's healthy and happy.
