John's Story
Life
After High School graduation in 1988, I attended Virginia Tech as a member of the Corps of Cadets. After enjoying four years of studying, football games, fraternity parties, etc., I graduated in 92 with a BA in Communication Studies and was commissioned as a 2LT in the U.S. Army. In my career, I have traveled to about 30 countries on four continents. Finally, this summer (2 July 05), I am settling down and getting married to the love of my life, Alexandra.
College
After High School graduation in 1988, I attended Virginia Tech as a member of the Corps of Cadets. I initially wanted to be an Engineer, but it wasn't my "true calling" (I guess going to class my first year might have something to do with that). I switched my major to Communication Studies, with a focus in Public Affairs, and a minor in Political Science. After enjoying four years of studying, football games, fraternity parties, etc., I graduated in 1992 with a BA in Communication Studies and was commissioned as a 2LT in the U.S. Army. Military
I graduated in 92 with a BA in Communication Studies and was commissioned as a 2LT in the U.S. Army. After some initial schooling, I reported to my first assignment in Korea for one year. In 1994, I moved to Ft. Bragg, NC and was promoted to 1LT. In 1996, I was promoted to CPT, and in 1997 I was stationed in Germany. I spent the next four years in two different jobs. I was the Brigade Signal Officer for a PATRIOT (Air Defense) Brigade for almost two years. I then commanded a Signal company of 137 soldiers in Kitzingen for another two years. I lived in the Franconian region of Bavaria, so I was always surrounded by good wines and great beer. I traveled to over 25 countries on three continents. I just recently left my assignments in the D.C. area with the HQ, Department of the Army & Army Test & Evaluation Command. I am currently attending Command General Staff Officers College at Fort Leavenworth and will move to Ft. Lewis after graduation.
