John's Story
Life
After graduation from Westfield I attended Indiana University where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio and Television (1974). While at I.U. I worked at WTIU Televison in many capacities and produced a special called "Christmas: A Time Of Love". I also worked at WIUS Radio as a newscaster. After leaving I.U. I worked in the insurance business and semi-retired in 1994. I was married in 1976 and have two sons--Joshua and Shawn. I collect Indy 500 racing memorabilia and in 1985 I started an organization called THE NATIONAL INDY 500 COLLECTORS CLUB. Toda...Expand for more
y, the club has over 350 members from around the world. I am also a consultant to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. In 1994 I wrote a book called "Forgotten Heroes of the Speedways: The Riding Mechanics". In 1992 I authored a periodical called "The Brickyard: The Legendary Bricks Of Indy" which I received a Hardee's Hometown Hero Medal from then Governor Bayh. I have also written articles for Hungness Indy 500 yearbook. For fun, I have dabbled in a little acting and have appeared in 11 films. Today, I am a Certified Massage Therapist located in Carmel, Indiana.
