John's Story
After graduation, I joined the US Army and served for 20 years and retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class (E-7). I
did tours in Berlin, Germany, Camp Zama, Japan, and stateside with tours in New Jersey, Washington, DC, and
Fort Meade, MD. I performed plenty of community service at these posts as a coach of various sports teams, sports
writer for the community newspaper, and even a Big Brother of America! After I retired from the Army, I performed
in various part-time jobs these past 20 years or so, the most significant one being an umpire with the Maryland
Diamond/Anne Arundel Umpire Association. I have umpired for 13 years now and ...Expand for more
have represented my umpire
association at the Cooperstown Dreams Park on six separate occasions. Every baseball fan I feel, should get to
Cooperstown at least once to take in the experience-it's incredible! On May 28, 2014 I will turn 60 years old, and I have never married. Still, it's been an interesting life since I got to travel to Germany and Japan while I was in the
Army, and met thousands of people along the way. I currently live in Glen Burnie, about a 5-minute drive from good
old Glen Burnie High School. I've really enjoyed going to our class reunions, and last one back in 2012, and that's
why I decided to enroll in Classmates.
