Life
Roger Corman has called him ÂÂ
the best in the BusinessÂ. When FX wizard filmmaker John Carl Buechler headed the makeup special effects division of New World pictures in the early 80Âs providing trademark ÂBrilliance on a budgetÂ. Wizardry such Corman produced film as Android, Deathstalker, Forbidden World and other classics. John BuechlerÂs early Corman creature features were his first break in Hollywood. He moved to join forces with Charlie BandÂs ambitious Empire Films in mid-80, designing and supervising the FX for a multitude of high-concept and critically acclaimed box-office hits including Ghoulies, Trancers, From Beyond and Re-animator.Buechler became the first motion picture director to emerge from make-up effects background, cutting his directorial teeth on the modestly budgeted fantasy films : Troll, Cellar Dweller and Dungeonmaster.Buechler soon was tapped to direct the seventh installment of ParamountÂs fright filled Jason series. Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood. owed down, he brought his unique ability to combine complex FX work and efficiency to several independent features, as well as numerous high fantasy T.V. series including CBS T.V. Land of The Lost and Tarzan the Epic Adventures. He also lends his vast talent in wizardry to such movies as lawnmowerman, Indiana Jones: The Last Crusade, and AdamÂs Family Values.In 2000, Mr. Buechler produced and directed Ice Crawlers, for Regent Entertainment (Gods & Monsters) in 2001 he wrote and directed Light in The Forest with Lindsey Wagner and Frank Bonner. Mr. Buechler has recently won awards for Best Make-up FX for Night of The Headsman in 2002, as well as Best Special Effects for MinerÂs Massacre 2003, which he not only created the FX, but directed the picture as well, at the Screamfest Festival in Los Angeles, CA.Most recently he has teamed up with Producer Peter Davy and formed the company FANTASTICAL CINEMA. With Mr. Davy Producing and Mr. Buechler writing and directing they have made the sci-fi action thrillers REPTILIANS, and TOTAL REX. Together they have just completed Robert Louis StevensonÂs classic tale of terror: THE STRANGE OF DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE. The film is set for theatrical release early, 2006The near future will see BuechlerÂs version of FRANKEN STIEN, as well as the first two installments of his Ring of the Fallen series of motion pictures. He refers to the film series as the ÂStar Wars of horror films.
