John's Story
Workplace
Done alot of things since being booted out of SUNY B'port in 1969. Filled sandbags, ran a couple of Carrol's restaurants, spent 3 yrs. in early 70's in Army, and worked as a civilian for the Army for 36+ years. Got married twice, helped to raise 3 kids. Also have 7 grandkids. Managed to work away a few classes at a time at my associates degree, and finally, my BS degree from Roberts Wesleyan College. Worked w/some great people at Seneca Army Depot, Europe,etc....officers, enlisted, and civilians alike. Remember all the inspections and some of the inspection parties, etc. Worked with some of the greatest patriots our nation has produced, all doing their part in ending the Cold War. To bad the nation will not know of their contributions to liberty.
I also work part-time as Radiation Assessment Officer for Wayne county in planning & drills with Ginna nuclear Power Plant.
Military
Got drafted and went in in February 1971...enlisted for extra year and went to Nuke school in NM, spent a few months in KS, and then 2 years in Germany. It was a great place to be with Viet Nam still going on...those three years were the foundation for my 35+ years of work as a Army civilian employee.
Volunteer Work
I'm been Missions Director at my church in Canandaigua, Zion Fellowship, for the past 20+ years. I also serve on the local board of the Selective Service System, and on the Alumni Council at Roberts Wesleyan College.
