John's Story
Hi to all at Pomeroy High 1965. I left Pomeroy and went to work at GM in
Detroit. While their I served an apprenticeship and became a tool and diemaker. i retired from GM after 35 years.
During those 35 years i married, got my commerical pilots license and have taught flying since 1983. I served 6 years in the Army National Guard from 1966 to 1972 as a paratrooper/long range recon specialist.
Since retirement my wife (Denise) and I do long distance bicycle rides (US in 2001),(Canada in 2006). we also do long distance backpacking...Expand for more
. (finished the appalachian trail in 2005 and currently working for Yosemite National Park patroling the high sierra mountains in the park.
We have been traveling full time with our rv and are out west most of the time. We help build Habitat homes while on the road.
Still playing Table Tennis when time permits. Have won several National Titles in my age group and picked up a gold medal at the senior olympics (August 2009) in San Francisco.
We have 4 children spread over the country and 2 grandchildren.
