When I left Damascus at 18 and a day (the Dart loaded with all my worldly goods, two cases of Colt 45 bought under my brand new legal status, and my brother, Paul) it seemed that there were no boundaries that could hold me back. s what I've called home for the last 20 years.
Now I have clan spanning the ocean: the family of my bride since January 2000 hails from the Veneto region, and my folks are spread from North Carolina to Chicago. The kids are mixed breed on both continents. In this branch of the family we're now at two--Francesca Chiara and Amy Anna! It's nice being surrounded by all these girls.
