John's Story
Life
What a long strange trip its been :-) I originally got a degree in photography and art and worked as a photographer and graphic artist for several years after college but realized it wasn't the life for me. I then went back to Rutgers and completed a degree in computer science in 1983. I married that year and moved to New England where I've been ever since working in high tech as a software engineer.
I have two beautiful and wonderful children who make their Dad very proud. My daughter Jessica graduated valedictorian of her high school and is now in college. My son Joshua is still in high school and besides being a good student has turned out to be something his Dad never was, a great athlete. For both my children the attribute I'm most proud of is they are both happy well adjusted people who care about and respect others which is a compliment returned in kind to them.
I divorced in 2000 after a 17 year marriage and although that event rocked my boat a bit ...Expand for more
at the time I now find myself in a very good place. I learned to downhill ski a few years ago and now spend most winter weekends on the slopes with a smile on my face. It seems like there is never enough time between the kids, work, and play.
I find myself thinking about my friends from school and wondering what road they traveled. My memories of MHS and the people who filled my world are positive, I remember it as a good time, albeit a bit innocent. Part of me wishes I could return for a visit to that moment but with the wisdom and self-confidence that was cultivated over the intervening years. From time to time I see Montclair in the news and I get nostalgic. One thing I realize now is although at the time some of us seemed so different from one another we actually shared far more in common then we were capable of realizing. I hope you are all well, that you are happy, and that you and love ones are all in good health. Perhaps one day our paths will cross again.
