Life After living in St Louis , Jefferson City and Kansas City for all of my life (except for military service) I decided in 2005 that it was time to move to a warmer climate. New Orleans has been a vacation destination for me for many years and so I decided to investigate housing opportunities in the area. I chose Diamondhead, MS as my retirement community. I am 55 miles from "Nawlins" and live in what I consider to be paradise. I have discovered a community with many "snowbirds" like myself who are retired and tired of the crime, pollution,high taxes, harsh weather and corruption of the big northern cities. I have made friends with many people here and enjoy the fishing, boating, festivals and seafood that is abundant here. I really enjoy looking out my window during November through April and not seeing any of that white stuff on my lawn, lol. I drive the 650 miles to STL a couple of times a year to visit friends and family but make sure that my visits do not coincide with bad weather. The tri...Expand for more
