John Di Schiavi:

CLASS OF 1977
Montreal, QC

John's Story

Greetings Everyone! I am not big on pictures but I assure you that I am alive and well! After graduating high school in '77, I studied Pure & Applied Sciences at Vanier College (Ste. Croix Campus). I then decided to study Architecture at the University of Montreal where I had to learn proper French. The French classes I took at Holy Names were helpful but I had to fast track my learning in French. After graduating from the University of Montreal in 1984, I worked as an Architect in downtown Montreal. I was involved in the design of a number of the shopping centers located in downtown Montreal. In the early 1990's, I decided that I needed to move to Miami, Florida to take part in the Hurricane Andrew Disaster Relief Effort that was spearheaded by none other than President George Bush Senior. I worked in Miami for a few years before returning to Canada to pursue my MBA at the University of Ottawa. Upon graduating from the University of Ottawa, I then decided to relocate to Chicago, Illinois where I met the love of my life! She and I met through a colleague of mine who worked with me at the same firm. My wife is from Southeast Asia and works ...Expand for more
as an RN. We had a civil ceremony on December 24, 2002 (Christmas Eve) at the courthouse in downtown Chicago during a blizzard. My wife who had never seen snow before was eager to move to sunny California. So a few days following our civil ceremony in Chicago, we decided to move to Los Angeles, California where we lived for approximately 7-8 years. In 2007, we decided to move to Sacramento, California where we joined my wife's side of the family (sister and brother). I have now been living in Sacramento, California for approximately 14 years where I still practice Architecture. I actually live in a suburb of Sacramento called Granite Bay, California. I have two beautiful daughters who are in still in their teens (got started late I guess). Not so sure if this will be my final stop, but I shall see where life takes us as I continue my adventure.....................stay tuned..........I will keep you posted. After all is said and done, and if my health cooperates, I may retire somewhere in California to stay close to my girls or I may take the leap of faith and retire somewhere on an island in the South Pacific. Stay tuned....................
