John's Story
Life
Love that photo!!! I was in my office and needed a photo so... nuthin like a self-portrait!
Wow... where do I begin??? Well... after graduating from the Christian Academy in St Louis, I went to York College. I only went one year. I wish I would have finished and I probably would have if I had gone to Harding. I enjoyed York but it was so far away from anything.
When I left for college my parents moved. Yes, there are probably a few jokes especially since they didn't send me there forwarding address. Luckily I dated a girl in the mailroom... hehe... York had no problem finding where to send the bills and grades. I eventually found my way home to Fort Wayne, IN and... I stayed.
I started working and met my wife. (another long story) I moved to Muncie, IN so we could go to Ball State University. That didn't work for long. College can be expensive with part-time work and a new marriage.
After a short move back to Fort Wayne, We moved to Oklahoma City, OK. I hoped to attend Oklahoma Christian but I got a good job as a computer tech. Kelly and I both worked at Amerivision/Lifeline until March '99. For the first couple of years I also worked part-time as a youth minister at the Welston COC. That was fun but I had no time and never slept! Before we left OKC in April '99 we attended at Life Church. Awesome group!
We moved back to Ft Wayne. My Dad planted a congregation (Southwinds Church) on the southwest side of ftw. This had been a life-long dream of our family to plant churches. Also, if we were every going to have any kids we figured we should move back near our babysitters... I mean family. I started working at GE as a... umm... y2k technician. Don't laugh! I got paid good money and traveled all over. My favorite place was Monterey, Mexico.
Just like the computer business ...Expand for more
you have to get pay raises and promotions by job hunting. I worked a year at a small company. Then a recruiter hired me away to Dana Corporation in Syracuse, IN. I really enjoyed working at Dana. I have some very good friends there I miss working with.
During that time we had our daughter... Elliana Rene. She has to be the most beautiful little girl and I am not the least bit biased. I have pictures to prove it. I haven't gotten much sleep since but I wouldn't trade it for the world!
Currently I work for TI Automotive. They make gas tanks for cars. I am the IT Supervisor. Ok... my title says supervisor but job is maintaining all the computers and network at the facility. I don't actually supervise anyone but they better do what I want their computer might crash... just joking.
I recently had my first home custom built. Woohoo... good thing we have a good friend who is a builder. It cost a lot less than I thought.
Life keeps me real busy. I would like to start a teen hangout / coffeehouse with live Christian bands playing.
*update*
I really don't want to re-write all this so...
I am still working at TI Automotive. My role has changed as I handle more automations and plant floor IT. Don't worry... it would bore you if I explained.
Elli is growing up so fast. She will be six in March. Time to start planning another princess spectacular party.
...and the bad news. My wife filed for divorce late last year and it looks like it will be final in June. Right now I have primary physical custody of our daughter and possession of the house. It has been a huge transition to single parenting but I am adjusting. Anyone have tips??
Oh... and I bought a new car. Ok, that was all I could think of so I didn't end this on a downer note. :-D
*end update*
Hope to TTYL,
John
