John's Story
OK the theme for this month- is Holy Crap! It's been 25 years! Man are you getting old!
Anyway here goes my attempt at my life story. High School was truly a learning experience, but not necessarily in the academic spirit.:) As we all attempted to find ourselves and learn what life was to hold and things that a Moneta education could only partially prepare us for.
After '83 at old SRHS, and a year long recovery from the car wreck that followed with Kenny Doyle. (BTW I credit Terry Gray who was on the ambulance squad with saving my life.)
I said John needs to go to college, so off John went to college. Radford to be exact and the next 4 years furthered my education of life, and convinced me that I still had much to learn. College was very detrimental to my finances and with a large college loan in my back pocket, i joined the Navy Reserves - Civil Engineer Corps.
A funny thing happened on the way to pay my debts and serve my country - Desert Shield and...Expand for more
Desert Storm. So I was sent on active duty and I got to see alot of the countries that I never thought I would visit.
My time at Radford and the Navy afforded me the opportunity to meet my girlfriend and prove to her that I had a direction in life and convince her to become my wife. We have been married now for 18 years and we have 2 beautiful daughters. Megan is now 13 and Lindsay is 6. All three are the love of my life.
It takes someone to become a parent, to know what it's like, to watch your heart walk outside of your body for the rest of your life!
I am now a computer consultant and work for myself in the Dallas TX area and travel way too much.
Since I thought I knew everything and no one could teach me more at 17, I wonder what the next 43 years may teach all of us.
I hope all that have read this were able to laugh and convinces you that we all need to get together, either in person at the reunion, or electronically.
Take care and stay in touch.
