John's Story

John retired in 1999 from the advertising agency, sales training, and management consulting businesses: Heirloom Publishers, DS&O Advertising, Dover American Corporation, National Syndications, Lease One Corporation, and Performance Concepts. Former residences include the Oregon coast, Orange county, Ventura, San Luis Obispo, and Boise over the years, and now reside in Spokane. John has authored 15 books -- 4 non-fictions, an autobiography ("When Johnny Came Marching"), 3 collections of short stories, 1 biography, & 7 novels, ranging a gamut of genres, the first being a thriller entitled, "A Few Deadly Friends.". John's four most recent novels: "Two Came Running," a saga about a brother and sister, orphaned at an early age by the separate murders of their parents. One becomes a movie star/singer, and the other a mathematician involved in cracking Hitler's Enigma code alongside Alan Turing at Bletchley Park, England during WWII. nneapolis. "The Blackjack List" -- Six clues must be deciphered to learn the location of $13 million buried following a bank robbery. The setting is Spokane and Northern Idaho.. "The Enchanted Pipe", a story about three Indian chiefs who, separately, gain possession of an enchanted pipe that influences historical American events between 1760 and 1910 (including the Revolutionary War, Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley, Custer's Last Stand, and the setting for Grand Coulee Dam upstream from Nespelem. Chiefs include Red Jacket of the Iroquois Nation, Sitting Bull (Lakota Sioux), and Chief Joseph (Nez Perce). John's most recent collection of short stories is entitled, "Tales From Downes Town." Titles include: Demise of the Blue Goose, The Second Most Fastest Gunfighter, Custer's Witness, Dimitre's Retirement, The Accidental Candidate, Overheard at the Coffee Shop, Ocean Mist, Discord in River View Heights, Seeking Powerball, Ocean Mist, and Conversation on an Airplane. Whenever Susan and I visit a greenhouse nursery, I'm wondering about our shortage of plants.
See what I get to look at during dinner. Mickey brought these over from his garden today.
Susan's watercolors are displayed on both walls at Gordys Szechwan Restaurant at 30th and Grand in Spokane during September and October. Also, 2 of her paintings are displayed this month at the MAC Museum in Spokane.

On Monday, October 2, Susan will be hanging her new oils at Gordy's Asian restaurant for a month-long showing.
