John's Story
Life
I've been a IP/technology lawyer in Taipei and greater-China since 2000. I work at a Swiss-headquartered firm with offices here and across the Strait, in Shanghai and Beijing.
For undergrad college, I went to the University of Missouri, where I majored in journalism -- I was a journalist for a couple of years before going to law school. After law school, I was a visiting scholar at Peking University, doing research, working with their grad students and even getting to do a little teaching.

d have done several trips (for business and fun) around other parts of Asia and Europe. A couple of the years out here, I've competed in the dragon-boat races on the Keelung River -- usually about 21 team members going through weeks of practice with a Taiwanese aboriginal coach guiding us.
The big news is that my wife, Frances, and I had twins on June 30, 2007. One boy, one girl -- or in Chinese they call it "long-feng tai" ("dragon-phoenix babies"). Emma Amelia Eastwood (Chinese name CHEN Yi-ying) and Anthony Edward Eastwood (Chinese name CHEN Yi-han) and their mother are all well.
