John's Story
Life
Well, here I am in Onalaska, Texas. I have been here for 5 years with my wife of 22 years. I have a 21 year old son, who is in the US Marines and stationed at Camp Lejuene, NC. He is married to his high school sweetheart. I have a 16 year old daughter, who is planning on joining the US Navy as a linguist/cryptologist and is planning a career in the Intelligence field. I have a 27 year old son from a previous marriage, who is a math/electronics whiz, but can't keep away from cocaine and is doing a short stretch with TDC. Hopefully this will straighten his life out and he will put his abilities to work. Only time will tell. Oh yeah, we also have 2 dogs. One likes me and the other one, he belongs to my daughter, would like to chew me a new one.
My crazy, wonderful life has taken me to many places and I always come back to Texas. I guess that means that I am at home when I'm here. I don't plan on moving again any time soon.
Between my military and civilian occupations, I have been to numerous places around the world and around the USA. I was an aviation ground equipment mechanic in the Navy, a medical specialist and a chemical warfare specialist in the Army. I have been a mechanic, a truck driver, a teleph...Expand for more
one systems installer, a forklift tire installer/warehouse mgr., a correctional officer, an A/C installer/tech, and a number of other endeavors thrown in for good measure. I am a true jack-of-all-trades and I even mastered a few. Just don't ask me to wire the lights in your house. Electricity and I have a love/hate relationship.
I enjoy fishing, even though I don't catch a whole lot. Sports are something I watch, rather than participate in. I just don't heal as fast as I used to. I used to skydive when I was in the military and enjoyed the heck out of it, but it got to be too expensive once I got out. We jumped for free in the military. I walk a lot, read a lot and do an occasional push up or two, sometimes I get really motivated and do a sit up or two, or I will mow the lawn and suffer for a week.
I love to eat and there isn't much I haven't tried at least once and more that I would like to try. I enjoy cooking, but hate the cleaning up afterward. My wife does the cleaning and on occasion I will help, but she will usually tell me to go sit down. Oh well, I tried.
Guess that about brings this tear jerker to a close. I hope to see or here from some of you folks in the near future. Bye for now and take care.
