John's Story
Life
My Kids
My son, John, is 22 years old and already a sharp HVAC technician. He moved to Oklahoma and bought a house there. My daughter, Ashley, is in 11th grade and an honors student.
My Job
I retired as a firefighter/EMT in Canton, but my real passion is a side business I have fixing Jacuzzi's. I have a number of contracts with manufacturers and the technical nature of the work appeals to me.
After High School
My friends know that I went to West Point after high school. I stayed there for a semester, left, stayed at home for a few months while working, got bored and joined the Marine Corps. I spent most of my time as a Military Policeman at a major base in North Caro...Expand for more
lina. My final year of active duty was with a counterintelligence unit in Okinawa, Japan. I did do one year in the active reserves with a light helicopter squadron at NAS South Weymouth.
Early Career
I spent seven years as a Deputy Sheriff with the Norfolk County Sheriff's Dept. I was accepted for the Mass State Police, but took a civil service position with the Canton Fire Department instead. I got hurt at a fire in 1989 that screwed up my right leg. It finally gave out completely in 2003. The doctors attempted a second operation, screwed it up even more and I was forced to retire a bit prematurely in 2004.
Hobbies
I love electronics, amateur radio and riding my motorcyle.
