John's Story
For those who remember my name, my current picture would seem to be someone other than what you may remember. When I graduated I was a healthy 180 pounds but 31 years behind a desk and near a bakery have caused me to gain approximately 130 pounds and then there's the loss of hair on top of my head and it's migration to my face. Needless to say I don't resemble the fresh faced youth I was in high school. But I am nonetheless a happy go lucky guy married to the prettiest girl I know and unusually healthy for my size.
I spent my working life toiling in the bowels of the Great State of Indiana first as a caseworker for the Marion County Welfare Department. I advanced to doing Quality Control work for the State Welfare Department. I eventually became a Medicaid Consultant for the Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA). I retired a few years ago but I still do contract work for my old agency on a part-time basis. My wife, the former Mary Burton, (Class...Expand for more
of '69) works as receptionist for First American Title Insurance. We have been happily married since 1970. We have two daughters, Susan Freeman of Spencer, Indiana and Jennifer Turner of Tompkinsville, Kentucky. Susan is the mother of our two oldest grandchildren, Jacob and Adam Freeman and Jennifer is the mother of our other three grandchildren, Lucas Golden, and Savannah and Lyla Turner.
All in all I cannot complain about my life following high school. I have many, many wonderful friends and I love my grandchildren dearly. Like I always say the reason that grandparents and grandchildren get along is that they both have a common enemy. I ride my trike every summer and have had the pleasure of riding out west and along the highway from Key West to Venice Florida. (If you haven't been to Key West...GO... now..., you can thank me later.)
Life's been good to me but I'm not ready to stop the ride just yet. There's still plenty of places to go and things to do.
