John's Story
Life can be interesting if you follow rather than try steering it. Ever since leaving San Gabriel as an 18 year old, life sure has taken me to some very special places.
After graduating from BYU, my wife Shirley (I spent three years convincing her to marry me and another three years convincing her to stay) and I moved to Sacramento, California where Shirley began teaching school. I was unemployed and looking for work but things I wanted to engage as a career were not available. So, I worked as a mechanic at the local Porsche dealership until an opening with Ciba Pharmaceutical presented itself. Not bad work but still not what I wanted.

S. Loved that job but was drawn to the high mountain country of Salt Lake City. If you like snow, that is the place to be. Started a business there and eventually was recruited by a machine tool company specializing in honing equipment. Over the next several years, I spent time with Sunnen Products and a few other related companies within the industry. Oddly, I found honing and manufacturing to my liking. This I did at the original equipment manufacturing level until landing in the aftermarket as president and CEO of the Automotive Engine Rebuilders Association (AERA).
It has been quite a journey over the past forty years. The places and people Shirley and I have met and the raising of our five children have made it all worthwhile.
