John's Story
After graduating high school in '95, I moved to San Francisco and got into artist management and concert promotion. A band by the name of Baby Snufkin, a Latin Disco Punk trio, recruited me to manage a European tour for them in the spring of '98. While on the road, I was given the name "Pinky Gonzales," which stuck, and is now what almost everyone knows me by. (Strange, but absolutely true.)
In '99 I moved to L.A. with my then-girlfriend, now-wife, Yvonne Smith (from Santa Rosa, CA). After doing the dot com shimmy and trying my hand in several music industry positions, we decided that L.A. was simply not the place for us. company that specialized in fan management and website development services. In 2005 we merged with echo music, a design & marketing firm representing Kanye West, Rascal Flatts, Janet Jackson, Brad Paisley, Korn, John Mayer and an array of other artists & businesses world-wide. We were acquired by Ticketmaster in 2007, which was awesome, and I spent the year helping with the transition. In April of 2008 I left to develop a course in online marketing for Belmont University and to take on several consulting opportunities.
Our children include 5 cats and a dog.
Though I did have to grow up a bit to make it in the real world, I still enjoy putting off homework assignments, being late to class and sticking it to the man. I'd love to hear from my fellow slackers, stoners and under-achievers.
