John's Story

I've lived in several places, and traveled a bit off the beaten track, but I must admit, I miss Texas and my old friends. Sometimes I wonder how things would have turned out if had stayed in Texas and been able to stay in closer contact with my friends from high school and college. After working as an economist in the electric utility field for many years, I took a little sabbatical in '96, traveling around the world and spending some time getting to know the eco villages of Findhorn (Scotland) and Auroville (India) a little, and studying with some remarkable Yoga teachers. Hard to go back to corporate America after that. But I still read the Wall Street Journal every day. ...Expand for more
I've been the executive director of the International Association of Yoga Therapists since 2003. One of the benefits is being able to work with many wonderful people around the world. Supporting people who make a difference. I'm recently back from my second trip to India, where I presented at the First International Conference on Yoga for Health and Social Transformation. This was a remarkable event, sort of like a Yoga summit conference, with most of the major Yoga institutions in India represented, as well as many IAYT members and Yoga researchers from around the world. I'm living in Little Rock, Arkansas, these days, but sometimes I feel I only hang my hat here.
