John's Story
Military
I joined the Navy after my first year of college at the U of A. For some reason I wasn't ready to be a college student, but it all worked out well anyway. I went to Boot Camp in San Diego. I went to Aviation Electronics "A" school at NATTC Millington, Tennessee, also known as NAS Mempis. It was a cold and pretty miserable winter for me there, but I graduated near the top in my class and got orders for F-14 Tomcats at NAS Miramar, San Diego. I had hoped for someplace a little more adventurous, but San Diego was a very nice place to be.

working on avionics at the AIMD at (the former) NAS Miramar and still have some friends from there to this day. I was briefly deployed on the USS Ranger and the USS Nimitz, both amazing aircraft carriers. It was a good experience for me all-around, but I was ready to get out and go back to school in 1992.
College
I'm glad I was able to get my degree in three years from DeVry University in Phoenix.
Workplace
After ten years at Raytheon in Tucson, and part of early 2007 in New Mexico, I got a new job in Waco, Texas to work for L-3 Communications, a smaller defense contractor there. Now, a new job opportunity in Panama City, Florida with SAIC.
