JOHN's Story
Life
Having spent most of his impressionable years institutionalized against his will, our hero drifted across both geographical and income lines several times until finally settling down in his early 30s. In between, he has traveled to such distant places as California, Atlanta, Chicago, Rome (Italy, not NY), Phoenix (where he bought some land) and Canada.
His wife Glenda and son Ian keep him balanced in a world he would just as eagerly abandon.
Currently working his way through graduate school, he has finished his first book,"The Big Book of Useless Examinations", which is now available for purchase at Authorhouse on the Internet in the Book Store for $15.99. Give it a look-see. Available online as well at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
School
An institutional education is far from normal, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that things like relationships and fond memories would be affected by such an environment.
Who was my biggest crush? Depends on if we're talking lust or fondness, and for a teenager it's almost always the same. I could have loved a girl named Nieema Nanton if my circumstances and parentage were of better stuff. I lusted after a nubile young lass by the name of Tiki Nelson, a 12 year-old with 36Ds. But then again, who didn't? And there were a few more girls who held my heart for a moment: Charlene Bruno, Tracie Ruggerio, Lamica McCrae, and Luz Rodriguez are those I remember by name.

ow fed my need to excell. At Pleasantville, Ms. Wanagel gave me the leeway that made time in class bearable. We won't get into the fact that the teachers there had me picking horses based on some formula they had gotten from somewhere. At least I got free lunches that were better than the rest got.
But Mr. Sharrock, the voluminous yet lovable "Cuz", is the one caregiver I'll always remember (no offense Vernard or the other cottage parents). He was stern yet funny - damn funny. He taught us Kenny Rogers songs, for God's sake. In a minivan. Heading for NYC, where we would tour 42nd St. for "census takers". If for no other reason, that needs to be remembered.
Crazy memories? Where do you start and where do you end? No, I won't go there now. Much of it was and still is sort of painful. And I was responsible for a good deal of it, true. To those I wronged, I can only apologize from 20 years ahead.
But to those who deserved it, I feel no regrets.
Feb. 2021: still alive, somehow.
Bought a house upstate, so now I'm trying to decide whether to sell or rent my co-op in the city.
My son's about to go to college. My wife's about to retire. I'm busy assembling my man cave/lab in half of the garage, which will be dedicated to pure research of... whatever.
The spirit is most definitely willing but the flesh has been banged up pretty good. Will definitely try to catch up with those who wish to, in some form or another. Remember, always #Resist
