John's Story
Life
After finishing 22 months of chemotherapy for cancer and graduating from UW-Madison in 1976 I went to Krakow, Poland for an intensive language course. Then in 1978 I started a 6 year medical school in Wroclaw, Poland. While there I met my wife, Irena.
I came back to the States to find a residency in pediatrics at Mercy Hospital in Chicago in 1985. Irena and I got married in May 1986. When I finished residency I decided to open a practice in Chicago on Archer Aven...Expand for more
ue, so we could stay in the Polish church which we helped found in 1986.
We are now married almost 22 years. We have no children, we just spoil our nieces and nephews when not taking care of the couple thousand kids who come to my office. A quiet house is really nice at the end of the day. I am on the church council of the Polish Christian Center. I am on medical staff at Mercy Hospital. I am still cancer free after all these years, and I thank God for every New Year.
