John's Story

Life Well now let me see. Where should I start... I guess I'll talk about life after graduation. After I graduated, I got a job at Union Carbide in Freehold. I worked my way up to Tank Farm Coordinater in charge with blending Prestone anti-freeze. I also attended Rutgers at night so I was pretty busy working and going to school. As many of you might know, I was in a very serious car accident. It put me out of commission for about two years. After I got back on my feet, I attended Rutgers University full time and got my Batchelors in Political Science. After graduation I moved a little south to the Jersey Shore. I currently live in Bayville where I have lived for more then twenty years. I got married in October of 1990 and have two wonderful Children. A boy, John (17) and a girl, Megan (13). I got divorced in 2004 but I spend a lot of time with my kids. They are my driving force. Currently, I work as a Substance Abuse Counselor for New Hope Foundation at a halfway house for men. I'm a primary counselor for the intensive outpatient program and carry a caseload with the residents on the halfway side as well. It's a career that's both rewarding and disappointing at he same time. I graduated with a Masters in Psychology in February, 2010 and look forward to obtaining my clinical licensure in addictions treatment. In my spare time I like to go fishing, boating, going to the movies and watching football. (go Giants...go RU). My interests, that I share with my son, are nitro burning monster trucks, (scale size) model rocketry, going to the firing range and computers. My daughter is becoming quite th...Expand for more
e soccer star and I enjoy attending her games. I hope that I didn't bore you. That's my life in a nutshell. I hope to hear from my classmates and friends. Please, E-mail me and we'll chat. Thanks. Jack School I guess I'll always remember my first girlfriend at MHS, Beth Goldberg. Ahhhh...the good old days. 7-20-74 Our Anniversery. I'll always remember that date, listening to Radar Love and Donald Duck. Those were the days. Breaking up just to get back together again. LOL. I'll never forgive myself for breaking my Jr. Prom date with Sherry Marter and the flack I caught from Linda Berendt. She never let me live that one down. Other memories of HS were biology class with Mrs. Goldblatt. What all american red blooded male didn't fall in love with her. Who can forget Barbara Dietz who I nominated for the BEST pair of legs in our class. How about detention with Miss. Nasti? We'd always get caught calling her Miss. Nasty when we thought she wasn't listening. Then there was always the days of hanging out with the boys. Jeff Cohen and Mike Worman hanging with Sherry Weinstein and Amy Gonick at the bridge and drinking Annie Greensprings apple wine. Getting in a fight with Shawn Woodworth over Betty Allen. Hanging out on the "jock wall" with the cheerleaders. Wow, the things you remember and days I'll never forget. What I wouldn't give to go back to those days knowing what I know what I know now. The the bottom line is this, even with knowing what I now know, I would not change one darn thing. Those WERE the days. The people I met the things we did. It was just a part of growing up and, grow up we did.
