John's Story
I canceled my monthly membership with classmates... BUT my Myspace profile number is 111873827, so you can contact me there.
Since High School I worked for a short time in sales at Olan Mill's. I started out as one of those dreaded telemarketers and then upgraded to a portrait consultant at the store located at 13 & Hayes at the time (it has since been relocated). I basically was in charge of all the sales for that store and brought that store from worst in the state for sales, to the best store in the state for sales. It was that store's first award ever until that point, I am not sure after I left if that store ever earned another award or not, frankly I don't really care; I moved on.
After that I went into working for a construction company doing brick paver patios.
I did that while going back to school to get certified and licensed in manicuring and became a nail technician and went to work at my mom's salon, "Janet's Nail Studio".
As soon as I started working there I went back to school to get my diploma at Irene's Myomassology Institute and was licensed as a Myomassologist (Massage Therapist) in Fraser. I met Renee (now my wife) when I started school at Irene's back in 1994 (we started the massage program at the same time and the same class. We started dating 2 weeks later.
I then went on to specialize in Thai Medical Massage and traveled to Thailand for the Advanced Thai Medical Massage training and certification in an all-immersive program. I traveled from Southern Thailand in Bangkok and studied at the old medicine school at What Po and I went all the way up to the Northern-most tip of Thailand at the Golden Triangle where Burma (Now called Myanmar), Laos, and Thailand all meet 60 miles South of China in the area of Chang-Mai and Chang-Rai. I then returned to Michigan and was certified as a teacher (facilitator/instructor) of Thai Medical Massage and began teaching classes at various Massage schools in Southeastern Michigan.
In 2000, I decided to take up Chiropractic medicine and become a Chiropractor and moved to Marietta Georgia to go to Life University. I was working on my prerequisites when the University lost its accreditation for its Chiropractic program. Luckily, I was still in the undergraduate program, so my credits were under a different accreditation and were all still valid credits. So, I waited to see what would happen with Life University's appeal process. When they lost their appeal, I figured it was over, so I put my condominium up for sale and moved back home to Michigan and Renee & I ...Expand for more
got married.
After a year, the condo' sold (I lost $14,000 just to cut my losses) and I had purchased another condominium (which I am still in) in Sterling Heights, Michigan. I gave up on becoming a Chiropractor, because that would mean another expensive move out of state (there are no Chiropractic Colleges/Universities in Michigan) and would require me to try to sell another condo', which I did not want to do. I originally was considering finishing up my Bachelor's degree at University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) and then continuing on for my Doctorate in Osteopathic medicine (becoming a DO), but after I finished my Bachelor degree in Biology I decided I wanted to finish up sooner and chose to go into UDM's second degree option (SDO) program for Nursing. It is a One-Year Fast-Track (or Accelerated) program that grants a Bachelor's in Nursing to those who have prior Bachelor's degrees. I graduated this past May (2008), with my second Bachelor of Science degree, this one being in Nursing.
My wife, Renee, also graduated this past May 2008 with me and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This would be her third Bachelor's degree. She has one in Psychology, one in Biology, and now one in Nursing.
I am currently employed at Royal Oak Beaumont hospital on the Rehabilitation unit (7-Center). Renee is currently on the Neurological-Science unit (8-South).
Renee has followed me in my learning carrier and has received all the same training as I have. We work together, run a business together, went to school together, and we both graduated from the UDM SDO Fast-Track Nursing program together in May 2008.
We are now thinking about trying to have some kids.
We currently have three Persian cats; one is a cream-point (named "Moxy"), the other two are seal-points (named "Mojo" and "Munchie"). They are all show quality.
Oh yeah, by the way, during all this mess since High School I still have a dream of becoming a professional Hollywood screenwriter. I have not given up hope. I currently have a completed screenplay, which I have copyrighted. I am currently trying to revise it and diamond polish it in preparation for a revised copyright and to begin marketing it with an agent. I will continue writing more screenplays until one day I can break into Hollywood. Wish me luck guys. I have already been contacted by the Hollywood Scriptwriting Institute, which is where I took online screen-writing classes and they wish to help me market the current screenplay once its polished and ready for marketing.
Boundless Blessings,
John Lambert
