John's Story
Life
Following high school, I went to DVC for an AA and on to Humboldt State, earning a BS in fishery science. Enlisted in the Army in '68 for four years, spending most all of the time as an A-team HALO Commander with the Special Forces. Went to Vietnam and Middle East. Great experiences, although a hard way to find out I wasn't "faster than a speeding bullet". Returned to Humboldt State University and earned a Masters. Was employed with US Fish and Wildlife Service and US Forest Service for 27 years trying to keep "progress" from destroying the remaining salmon and other fisheries. Left California after college and have lived in Montana and Idaho ever since. Presently reside in Twin Falls,ID. Married 37 years to a great and highly talented woman--Jane (Miss Montana of 1970), and have four six foot+ sons. Yes, two of the boys are also identical twins. hicles, hunting, fishing, archery, traveling, running, wake-boarding, snow-boarding, and most any outside winter and summer activities. Have studied and instructed martial arts for 25 years. Retired from the Federal Government at end of 2001, which gives me more time to spend with my family and brother Jim. Hope all is well and the dreams you pursued have been realized. When in the area, stop by.
Military
Enlisted in US Army in 68. Spent time at Forts Dix, NJ; Benning, GA; and Bragg, NC. Was A-team commander for Green Beret Special Forces, trained in many things to include jumping from a plane at 35,000 feet (HALO) with a SADM attached (small nuclear packpack bomb). Spent time in Vietnam and Middle East. Got out in 1972 with the rank of Captain. Unlike brother Jim who was shot DOWN as a navy jet pilot in Vietnam, I eventually was shot UP. For the most part a great time in my life.
