John's Story
Graduated from Borromeo Seminary High School in 1973. Performed in "Godspell" at Lakeland Community College Performing Arts Center in 1975. Rode bicycle cross-country with Bikecentennial in 1976, from Oregon to Virginia. Graduated from Lakeland C.C. in 1977. Moved to Atlanta, GA. in 1979 where I worked for Atlanta Records and Tapes and Atlanta Dairy as a short-lived milkman. Earned Bachelor's degree in Journalism from Kent State University in 1983 having written for the Kent/Ravenna Record Courier and having interned at the Wooster Daily Record. Worked for nearly 2 years in advertising at the Medina Gazette, then returned to seminary training first at Borromeo College, then at St. Mary Seminary, leaving formation in 1989, after Third Theology. rved as a campus minister through the Archdiocese of Scranton, PA. at Lycoming College from 1991 to '94. Bought first house in Dayton, Ohio, while taking classes toward Master's of Education from 1995 to '97. Taught theology at Archbishop High School (Kettering/Dayton, OH) from 1998 to 2002. Started dating Rosemary Moore, and working at Gilmore Academy in '02-'03. Married to Ms./Dr. Moore on May 31, 2003. Honeymooned riding two tandem bikes around France for a month. Returned to KSU for post-graduate work in Clinical Counseling. Earned LPCC in 2012. Worked as a counselor at Murtis Taylor Community Health, Community Action Against Addiction, and St. Vincent Charity Hospital (Rosary Hall) where I retired in 2021. Work as a semi-retired therapist.
