John's Story

Life Hi: Lots of names I remember-good old friends! I have a beautiful 2 1/2 year old grandaughter now and she is a blast. Pa Pa gets to spoil her rotten and say goodnight at the end of a fun filled day! Josy enjoys music. We play guitars and spin my 45 records! She likes songs like "The Name Game", "Silly Love Songs", and "Barefootin'". We dance and wear funny glasses-I have a pair of Elvis glasses with built in sideburns and she looks really cute in those!....Still trying to become a "famous rock star in 5 years" LOL, Currently playing in 2 rock-n-roll bands- Passed Lives passedlives.com, and The Flashbacks. The Flashbacks are strictly a 60's pop band, while Passed Lives play my 60's stuff and the other singer does cool songs by Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and Bobby Darin. Picture him singing "Lady Is A Tramp" followed by me doing "I'm A Believer", and you get the idea. From class to camp we had some great music to grow up with and it is still the best thing going imo!...... I am still driving my mom and dad's original 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL in metalic royal blue! I drove it to school occasionally. What a head turner...kids today have no idea what a really well built car looks like and they freak when they see it. Mom and Dad were heavy smokers and we had a 3 kid family (plus me beatin' it on weekends) and this car still looks new inside! Fresh paint outside- it's my Sunday cruiser! Joy and I had our first date in it in 1973, and both my sisters went to the prom in it. Also all three of us kids took our driving test in the XL so it is a very sentimental ride. When we first started dating, Joy used to sit on the console next to me. She does not do this anymore. I used to spend way to much energy worrying about the original wire hubcaps getting stolen. Now I have an extra set so no worries!....... I get to retire in 2 1/2 years and plan to keep rockin till they carry me off. I am married to my high school sweetheart Joy Miller and life is good. Cheers! John School I loved Mr. Norwood! God bless that man. His film study classes were inspirational. He made everyone feel included and welcome. The "clicks" were virtually non existant in his class. Always an A grade if you showed up, he was THE reason for my finally getting on the honor roll ! LOL We used to lay on the floor and he would say "I do not care what condition you are in as long as you show up"! We would smoke those funny ciggies and go watch crazy films. I remember the one from the 50's that was a study on manipulation. People were told that a guy isolated in a booth would get a shock from them if a question was answered wrong. Each time the guy got the impossible to answer question wrong the official told the person to shock the guy and then raise the intensity of the shock till it was at lethal levels. The guy in the booth would scream "stop it! I have a heart condition!!". This was amazing to watch. Some wou...Expand for more
ld cry but keep on pushing that shock button even when the guy in the booth stopped screaming! (was he dead?) Folks from all walks of life were involved-and a vast majority of them would blindly follow the commands of the official. Scary stuff! Mr Norwood had us make our own film one class and a few of us, Dave Lucas was one, went to Schmidt's Park to star as druggie renegades. A cop happened to cruise in while we were filming and he agreed to do a chase in his car as long as we did not film his face. He really got into it-burning rubber and flying out of the skiding car! I wonder if that is still around? .......I remember Mr. Scott and running away from him while skipping school. I didn't think he knew who I was, but as I was running he yelled "stop John Lund"! He called my dad that night, and I went to his office the next day-that was a knee trembler........ I used to hang out at the "Wall" and remember some great times and cool peeps! Guitar being played by a guy named Tim Hardgrove? He was very nice. It was a groovy time man! I missed out on the prom and all the dances. We thought it was un-cool but that was just my excuse for being so freakin' shy! I look forward to future reunions even if they don't ask my band to play! (Please!-can we???) LOL College SSCC 1884 to 1986. AA degree. I was working with runaway teenagers at The Shelter, and my major was psychology. After two years in that type of work I got really burned out and stopped. God bless the people who do this kind of work! It is very demanding and rough on the heart to see so many sad lives day in and day out. I was lucky I had my music to keep me cheered up. I may start working with kids again after I retire in 2010. Workplace I was a toothpick maker for the first years of my carreer, then I moved up to toothpick supervisor. Now I help unfortunates who spent their lives making toothpicks. I also worked at a daycare for 2 years while I was being a "rock star"-no money in rock and little money in daycare. I thought daycare work would help me meet girls, but no dice! After the daycare I moved up and went back to school. I am a psych major and continue to this day trying to figure it all out...Lots of "WHY's" AND "WHY NOT'S"...But mostly- Thank God's!! Military I burned my draft card in 73 and pissed off the general. I didn't register-the freakin draft was over so I figured I didn't need to! WRONG! I remember my dad taking me to some scary office where this god like figure looked down at me and said "why didn't you register?", My dad started to say something and he told my dad to "shut up, sir, I am not talking to you!". It was then that I knew I had screwed the pooch! No help from dad and my legs were shakin like leaves on trees. I cryed sorry and the general let me go with a warning "I could send you to Naum right now if I wanted to!" What a guy. I wonder what happened to that dude? Hey general!!
