John's Story

Life Married a wonderful girl named Janet in Cardiff, Wales, (200mi. west of London, England for those who slept through Geography. Man I’m getting old I can’t remember who taught us geography.). We have two children, Lewis born in 1992 and Laura born in 1994. Janet is a Urology Nurse specialist and I, after retiring from the Air Force, went to the University of Wales and got a degree in Social work. I now am working for the city govt as an Older Peoples' social worker. I love it here in Cardiff but the weather gets me down sometimes, but I don’t miss the St. Louis humidity. I haven’t been back to St. Louis since I left for the Air Force in 1979. I still consider the Cardinals and the Rams my teams. I’d love to come back and see the old neighbourhood some time. Show my kids where I grew up. ...Expand for more
Does anyone know if D&G snow cone shop is still on the corner of Broadway and Ripa? I crave one of their specials sometimes when its hot outside. I’d love to hear from Alumni of the class of 78 or anyone else at Hancock. Drop me an email. john dot marty at ntlworld dot com Anybody from St. Martin’s remember all of the verses to St. Maurice’s ‘Kingdom of the Animals’ poem? It was one of the seventh grade special pieces I remember, as well as the circulatory system of the heart. It started out – The kingdom of the animals, whose phylum number 10, can easily be mastered by quite study in your den. Each animal in nature is classified for you, its system of taxonomy you can easily pursue. Phylum one protozoa ……….. I looked for this poem on google and couldn’t find it.
